Fatigue - Treatments
Description
This section outlines the various supplements, compounds, foods and herbs that alleviate or prevent Fatigue.
These Substances may Alleviate or Prevent Fatigue
Alkaloids
Caffeine may delay the onset of Fatigue and may (temporarily) alleviate Fatigue (by stimulating the Central Nervous System). [1]
Amino Acids
Alanine may help to prevent/delay (muscular) Fatigue. [2]
Aspartic Acid (in its Magnesium Aspartate or Potassium Aspartate forms) may alleviate Fatigue. [3]
Fatigue may occur as a result of Carnitine deficiency: [4]
Carnitine (2,000 mg per day) may inhibit the ability of exogenous, pharmaceutical Interferon Alpha to cause Fatigue.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may alleviate Fatigue. [5]
Creatine Monohydrate may delay the onset of (muscular) Fatigue in people who undertake intensive Exercise and may also alleviate Fatigue in people with impaired Mitochondrial function. Creatine Monohydrate may also alleviate mental Fatigue. [6]
Fatigue is often accompanied by markedly lowered levels of Creatine Phosphate (an Amino Acid that may be replenished via Creatine Monohydrate supplementation). [7]
Citrulline may alleviate Fatigue. [8]
Glutamic Acid may alleviate Fatigue.
Glutamine may alleviate Fatigue.
Ketoisocaproate (KIC) may delay the onset of (muscular) Fatigue in persons who Exercise. [9]
Methionine may help to alleviate and prevent Fatigue.
The N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) form of Cysteine may help to prevent (muscular) Fatigue. [10]
Ornithine may help to prevent/alleviate Fatigue: [11]
Ornithine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (OKG) may minimize the (muscular) Fatigue that occurs during and after intensive Exercise (by facilitating the removal of Ammonia from the body). [12]
Taurine may delay Exercise-induced Fatigue. [13]
Tyrosine may alleviate Fatigue: [14]
Amino Acid Derivatives
Pangamic Acid may alleviate Fatigue (by preventing the buildup of excessive Lactic Acid within the Muscles of those who heavily exercise). [15]
Carotenoids
Crocetin may help to delay the onset of (muscular) Fatigue in people who engage in intensive Exercise (by improving the delivery of Oxygen to Muscles via the Plasma).
Electromagnetic Radiation
Sunlight may alleviate the Fatigue that often occurs as a result of excessive exposure to Artificial Lighting.
Electron Transport System Chemicals
NADH (2.5 - 5 mg per day) may alleviate Fatigue. [16]
Enzymes
Deficiency of AMP Deaminase within the Muscles may cause excessive Fatigue after intensive Exercise.
Hormones
Supplemental DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) may alleviate Fatigue (especially in elderly persons). [17]
Supplemental Pregnenolone may help to prevent and treat Fatigue. [18]
Fatigue may occur as a result of insufficient endogenous production of Testosterone. [19]
Lipids
Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) may prevent/alleviate Fatigue and accelerate the recovery from post-Exercise Fatigue (according to anecdotal reports from athletes). [20]
Mineral Acids
Bicarbonate (consumed prior to Exercise) may delay the onset of Fatigue in people who undertake strenous Exercise (e.g. Endurance Exercise) and may accelerate the recovery of Muscles following strenuous Exercise (this occurs from Bicarbonate causing Lactic Acid to be secreted out of Muscle Fibers and neutralized). [21]
Magnesium Bicarbonate may exert similar effects.
Sodium Bicarbonate may exert similar effects. [22]
Minerals
Fatigue may occur as a result of Boron deficiency. [23]
