These Substances may Accelerate the Recovery from Stroke

Alkaloids

Berberine may protect the Brain from many of the toxic after-effects of (ischemic) Stroke.  [1]

Amino Acids

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may protect the Brain from many of the toxic after-effects of Stroke.  [2]

Creatine Monohydrate may minimize the Brain damage the occurs following a Stroke.  [3]

Supplemental Glutamine may improve the recovery from Stroke.  [4]

Ethylene-Diamine-Tetra-Acetate (EDTA) - the synthetic Amino Acid used in Chelation Therapy – may minimize the after-effects of Strokes.

Glycine (1,000 - 2,000 mg per day administered sublingually, commencing within six hours of the onset of Stroke) may reduce mortality in (ischemic) Stroke patients and may exert favourable health benefits on (ischemic) Stroke patients.  [5]

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) (administered either prior to or after the occurrence of a Stroke) may reduce the severity and after-effects of (ischemic) Stroke.  [6]

Theanine may help to minimize Memory impairment after the occurrence of (ischemic) Stroke.  [7]

Coumarins

3-n-Butyl-Phthalide may minimize the Brain damage that occurs in (ischemic) Stroke patients.  [8]

Enzymes

Lumbrokinase may be useful for the treatment of (ischemic) Stroke (due to its Tissue Plasminogen Activator content).  [9]

Tissue Plasminogen Activator may be a highly beneficial treatment for (ischemic) Stroke - it may totally dissolve the abnormal Blood Clots that cause ischemic Strokes.  [10]

Hormones

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) may minimize the damage that occurs to Neurons in the Hippocampus of the Brain as a result of Stroke.  [11]

Supplemental Melatonin may reduce the extreme Fatigue, Depression and impaired Immunity that often occur as after effects of Stroke.  [12]

Progesterone may facilitate recovery from (ischemic) Stroke.  [13]

Lignans

Sesamin may facilitate recovery from Stroke.  [14]

Lipids

Arachidonic Acid may facilitate recovery from (hemorrhagic) Stroke.  [15]

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) may protect the Brain from many of the toxic after-effects of Stroke (this means that people who supplement with or consume high dietary quantities of DHA prior to experiencing a Stroke) will experience less cognitive impairment and Brain damage following a Stroke.  [16]

GM-1 Ganglioside may prevent many of the detrimental effects of Strokes (when GM-1 Ganglioside is administered within a few hours of the occurrence of the Stroke).

Minerals

Lithium may minimize the Brain damage that occurs subsequent to (ischemic) Stroke.  [17]

Magnesium (administered within six hours after the occurrence of a Stroke) may minimize the after-effects of Stroke.  [18]

Zinc may improve cognitive recovery in Stroke patients.  [19]

Neuropeptides

Vasopressin may improve Stroke-induced Speech Impairment.  [20]

Nucleic Compounds

Inosine may restore the function of limbs that have become paralyzed due to Stroke (even when Inosine is administered after the occurrence of a Stroke).  [21]

Oxygen Therapies

Ozone therapy may improve Blood Circulation to the Brain following the occurrence of (ischemic) Stroke.  [22]

Peptides

Carnosine (if consumed prior to the occurrence of a Stroke) may help to prolong survival in persons who experience an ischemic Stroke (due to its ability to protect the Brain against the toxic effects of Ischemia).  [23]
