Health Benefits of Berberine

Cardiovascular System

Berberine may help to prevent Atherosclerosis.  [1]

Berberine may improve the condition of Congestive Heart Failure patients.  [2]

Berberine may lower elevated Blood Pressure in High Blood Pressure patients.  [3]

Berberine may protect the Brain from many of the toxic after-effects of (ischemic) Stroke.  [4]

Berberine may be beneficial for the treatment of (ventricular) Tachycardia that occurs as a result of a lack of Oxygen.  Berberine may also help to prevent re-entrant ventricular Tachycardia.  [5]

Digestive System

Berberine may inhibit Interleukin 8 (IL-8) activity in Crohn's Disease patients and may minimize tissue damage to the Colon in Crohn's Disease patients.  [6]

Berberine may alleviate Diarrhea (where Diarrhea is caused by Detrimental Bacteria (such as Escherichia coli) infection).  [7]

 Berberine may alleviate Gastroenteritis.  [8]

Berberine may improve the tone of the Gastrointestinal Tract.  [9]

Excretory System

Berberine may inhibit the ability of Detrimental Bacteria to adhere to the wall of the Bladder, thereby helping prevent and control Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), such as bacterial Cystitis.  [10]

Eyes/Vision

Berberine applied topically to the Eyes via Eyedrops may alleviate Conjunctivitis caused by Bacterial infection (by destroying the Bacteria that cause Conjunctivitis).  [11]

Immune System

Berberine may suppress many types of Cancer cells (in part, by inhibiting the activity of Activator Protein 1):  [12]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Cancer - Breast cells.  [13]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Cancer - Cervix cells.  [14]

Berberine may stimulate apoptosis (cell death) in Cancer - Colon cells.  [15]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Cancer - Esophagus.  [16]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Cancer - Liver cells and help prevent carcinogens-induced Liver Cancer.  [17]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Neuroblastoma cells.  [18]

Berberine may inhibit the growth of Cancer - Pancreas cells.  [19]
