Alkaloids

 Berberine may stimulate the apoptosis (cell death) of Prostate Cancer cells.  ^[1]

 Capsaicin may help to prevent and treat Prostate Cancer.  ^[2]

 Sanguinarine may help to prevent and treat Prostate Cancer.  ^[3]

Auxins

 Diindolylmethane (DIM) may inhibit the development of Prostate Cancer.  ^[4]

 Indole-3-Carbinol may help to prevent Prostate Cancer (by modulating the effects of Estrogens in Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptors in Prostate cells).  ^[5]

Carbohydrates

 D-Glucaric Acid may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[6]

 Increased intake of Dietary Fiber may reduce the risk of ProstateCancer.  ^[7]

 Glucosamine may inhibit the proliferation of Prostate Cancer cells.  ^[8]

 Maitake D-Fraction may cause the regression of Prostate Cancer.  ^[9]

 Modified Citrus Pectin may inhibit the of Prostate Cancer and may stimulate the apoptosis (cell death) of Prostate Cancer cells).  ^[10]

Carotenoids

 Alpha-Carotene may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[11]

 Astaxanthin may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[12]

 Beta-Carotene (50 mg per day) may reduce the risk of ProstateCancer (men who consume 50 mg of Beta-Carotene per day are 36% less likely to develop Prostate Cancer).  ^[13]

 Cryptoxanthin may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[14]

 Fucoxanthin may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[15]

 Lutein may reduce the risk of Prostate Cancer.  ^[16]

 Lycopene may reduce the risk of Prostate Cancer (primarily by interfering with the ability of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) to stimulate the growth of Prostate Cancer Cells).    ^[17]

 Neoxanthin may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[18]

Glucosides

 Laetrile may be useful for the treatment of Prostate Cancer.  ^[19]

Hormones

 Increased production of 2-Hydroxyestrone may be associated with a reduction in the risk of Prostate Cancer - this occurs because 2-Hydroxyestrone production from Estrone is an indicator of reduced conversion of Estrone to 16-Hydroxyestrone (the metabolite of Estrone that is implicated in Prostate Cancer).  ^[20]

 Adiponectin may help to prevent Prostate Cancer.  ^[21]

 DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) may help to prevent Prostate Cancer and inhibits the further progression of existing Prostate Cancer.  ^[22]

 The body's production of Melatonin declines in Prostate Cancer patients (due to Prostate Cancer causing a decline in the production of Melatonin's precursor - Interleukin-2) and supplemental Melatonin may inhibit the further development of Prostate Cancer.  ^[23]

 Progesterone may inhibit the growth of Prostate Cancer cells (by inhibiting the conversion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone and by opposing the Prostate Cancer stimulating effects of Estrogens).  It is also speculated that Progesterone may stimulate Prostate Cancer cells to undergo Apoptosis (programmed cell death). ^[24]

 Recent research indicates that Testosterone (especially in combination with Progesterone to inhibit the conversion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)) may inhibit the proliferation of Prostate Cancer cells - Testosterone opposes the activity of Estrogens (which are known to stimulate Prostate Cancer cell proliferation) and may stimulate cells to use normal oxidative respiration instead of anaerobic Energy mechanisms normally used by Cancer cells.  ^[25]

 The body's production of Interleukin 2 (IL-2) declines in Prostate Cancer patients.
