Alkylglycerols are a group of Glycerides that differ from other Glycerides in that their Fatty Acids are linked to Glycerol by Ether bonds rather than Ester bonds.  The Fatty Acids in Alkylglycerols can be either Saturated or Monounsaturated and are either 16 or 18 carbon chains long.  They contain no Phosphate groups in their structure but are unique in that they contain an additional atom of oxygen.
