Description

Male Infertility is the inability in a male to induce conception.

These Substances may Alleviate Male Infertility

Amino Acids

Arginine (8,000 mg per day) may increase Sperm count and Sperm motility in Male Infertility patients.  [1]

Carnitine (400 - 3,000 mg per day) may improve the quality and motility of Sperm in Male Infertility patients.  [2]

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) may be useful for the treatment of Male Infertility.  [3]

Taurine may alleviate some cases of Male Infertility (i.e. those cases that are caused by impaired Sperm motility).  [4]

Carotenoids

Astaxanthin may alleviate Male Infertility.  [5]

Lycopene (at least 4 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility (it improves Sperm count, Sperm shape and Sperm motility due to its Antioxidant effects).  [6]

Hormones

Gonadotrophic Hormones are synthesized and released by the Pituitary Gland and act on the Testes to promotes the production of Sperm.

Melatonin may be useful for the treatment of Male Infertility (due to its ability to increase Sperm motility).  [7]

Lipids

Alkylglycerols may alleviate some cases of Male Infertility (by increasing the motility of Sperm).  [8]

Beta-Ecdysterone may improve Sperm quality in Male Infertility patients.  [9]

Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) (500 - 1,000 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility (according to anecdotal reports).

Linoleic Acid (500 - 1,000 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility and Male Infertility can occur as a result of Linoleic Acid deficiency.  [10]

Some cases of Male Infertility may occur as a result of Omega-3 Fatty Acids deficiency:  [11]

Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) (500 - 1,000 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility and some cases of Male Infertility occur as a result of Alpha-Linolenic Acid deficiency.  [12]

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) may alleviate Male Infertility and some cases of Male Infertility occur as a result of DHA deficiency.  [13]

Minerals

Chromium Orotate (10 - 20 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility.

Selenium (100 mcg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility by increasing Sperm production and Sperm motility.  [14]

Zinc (50 - 100 mg per day) may alleviate Male Infertility.  [15]

Organic Acids

Rosmarinic Acid may help to prevent some cases of Male Infertility (by increasing Sperm motility).  [16]

Peptides

Glutathione may be useful for the treatment of Male Infertility.  [17]

Phenolic Acids

Ferulic Acid may increase the viability and motility of Sperm in Male Infertility patients.  [18]

Phospholipids

 Phosphatidylcholine may alleviate Male Infertility.

Prescribed Medications

Exogenous, pharmaceutical Chorionic Gonadotrophic Hormone (CGH) is sometimes utilized in the treatment of Male Infertility when Infertility is caused by Male Hypogonadism (due to the ability of CGH to stimulate Testosterone production).

Polyphenols

Pycnogenol may improve Sperm morphology in Male Infertility patients.  [19]

Quercetin may alleviate Male Infertility.  [20]

Quinones

Coenzyme Q10 may alleviate Male Infertility (by providing Energy to Sperm).  [21]

Smart Drugs

Bromocriptine may alleviate Male Infertility (where Infertility is caused by excessive production/secretion of Prolactin (hyperprolactinemia)).  [22]

Minaprine may alleviate Male Infertility (by increasing the quantity of Sperm produced and improving Sperm motility).
