Overview

Modified Citrus Pectin is produced from the inner peel and pulp of citrus fruits via pH and temperature modifications that break citrus pectin into short, non-branched, high-Galactose-content Carbohydrate chains.  These shorter chains are more water-soluble and are significantly more bioavailable in the human body than regular citrus pectin.

Health Benefits of Modified Citrus Pectin

Immune System

Modified Citrus Pectin may inhibit the spread () of a wide variety of (perhaps all) Cancer cells from primary tumors, thereby preventing the development of secondary tumors in Cancer patients (the mechanism for the inhibition of metastasis of tumors by Modified Citrus Pectin involves its high content of Galactosyl Sugar Residues (Galactoside Residues) acting as anti-adhesive agents that interfere with the cellular interactions that are essential for the transport and proliferation of primary tumor cells to secondary sites of the body.  Modified Citrus Pectin may interfere with cell-to-cell contact by competing with the cell’s recognition of tumor Cell Galectins (Galactose-binding lectins) (e.g., galectin-3) that are necessary for the establishment of secondary tumors.).  Another means by which Modified Citrus Pectin inhibits Cancer may be by enhancing the function of Monocytes and NK Lymphocytes (types of White Blood Cells):  [1]
