2-Hydroxyestrone
Description
2-Hydroxyestrone is a metabolite of the Estrogen Hormone, Estrone.
Function of 2-Hydroxyestrone
Increased production of 2-Hydroxyestrone is deemed desirable as increased 2-Hydroxyestrone production from Estrone occurs at the expense of increased 16-Hydroxyestrone and is an indicator of reduced production of 16-Hydroxyestrone (a carcinogenic metabolite of Estrone).
Immune System
Increased production of 2-Hydroxyestrone may be associated with a reduction in the risk of Cancer - Breast - this may occur because 2-Hydroxyestrone production from Estrone is an indicator of reduced conversion of Estrone to 16-Hydroxyestrone (the metabolite of Estrone that is implicated in Breast Cancer).
Increased production of 2-Hydroxyestrone may be associated with a reduction in the risk of Cancer - Cervix (Cervix Cancer) - this may occur because 2-Hydroxyestrone production from Estrone is an indicator of reduced conversion of Estrone to 16-Hydroxyestrone (the metabolite of Estrone that is implicated in Cervical Cancer).
