Lutein
Overview
Lutein is a naturally occurring carotenoid—a type of plant pigment with antioxidant properties—found in many fruits and vegetables, especially dark leafy greens. It belongs to the same family as beta-carotene and vitamin A–related compounds, but it has unique roles in human health, especially in the eyes.
