Rods
Description
Rods are rod-shaped, light-sensitive Cells (Photoreceptors) that are located on the peripheral parts of the Retina of the Eye.

Rods facilitate Sight under conditions of low illumination - they allow black and white vision and are not capable of color discrimination (they are responsible for black and white vision in the dark).
