Brain
Anatomical name: Encephalon
Description
The Brain is the enlarged and highly developed mass of nerve tissue that forms the upper end of the Central Nervous System (CNS). The Brain is composed of various distinct regions and is comprised (on a cellular level) primarily of Glial Cells and Neurons. It is directly attached to the Spinal Cord.

Amino Acids
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) concentrates in the Brain: [1]
ALC may counteract the toxic effects of Ischemia on the Brain.
Carnitine concentrates in the Brain. [2]
Carnosine is produced in the Brain and concentrates in the Brain. [3]
Cysteine may protect the Brain from the toxic effects of Alcohol and Tobacco Smoking.
Cystine may protect the Brain from the toxic effects of Alcohol and Tobacco smoking.
Glutamic Acid functions as a stimulatory Neurotransmitter within the Brain it "excites" almost all of the Neurons of the Brain and accelerates "communication" between Neurons. Glutamic Acid is the most abundant Amino Acid in the Brain.
Histidine may promote Alpha-Wave (tranquil) activity within the Brain (via Histamine).
Spermine concentrates in the Brain.
Taurine concentrates in the Brain - Taurine is the second most abundant Amino Acid (after Glutamic Acid) in the Brain. [4]
Carbohydrates
Galactose is a component of some of the Glycolipids found in the Brain.
Much of the Glucose that is released from the Liver in response to Glucagon is utilized as “fuel” for the Brain.
Hyaluronic Acid is a major component of the extracellular matrix of the Brain.
Carotenoids
Crocetin may help to transport additional Oxygen to the Brain. [5]
Hormones
Adrenaline dilates the Blood Vessels that supply the Brain.
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) concentrates in the Brain - the Brain contains 6.5 times more DHEA than other Tissues of the body.
Estrogens (especially Estradiol) bind to Estrogen Receptors located in the Brain where they may influence (improve) various aspects of Brain function.
