Rheumatoid Arthritis - Substances that Treat
These Substances may Prevent or Alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis
Alcohols
Moderate consumption of Alcohol (ethanol) may help to prevent Rheumatoid Arthritis. [1]
Alkaloids
Capsaicin (0.025% cream applied topically four times per day) may alleviate the Pain and Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis (primarily by reducing the body’s endogenous production of Substance P and Prostaglandin E2). [2]
Amino Acids
Rheumatoid Arthritis patients have significantly lower levels of Creatine than healthy people (and supplemental Creatine Monohydrate may help to restore endogenous Creatine levels to normal in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients) - studies to determine whether supplemental Creatine Monohydrate could alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis have not yet been performed. [3]
Cysteine may alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Glycine may help to prevent Rheumatoid Arthritis. [4]
Histidine (1,000 - 6,000 mg per day) may alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis by stimulating the activity of Suppressor T-Cells and it has been observed that most Rheumatoid Arthritis patients are found to have significantly lowered levels of Histidine. [5]
Carbohydrates
Chondroitin Sulfate (when used concurrently with Glucosamine Sulfate) may alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis. [6]
Fucose may be useful for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid Arthritis patients have been found to have lower serum Fucose levels. [7]
Glucosamine may alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis. [8]
Degradation of the Hyaluronic Acid content of the Synovial Fluid that surrounds Joints occurs during the progression of Rheumatoid Arthritis. [9]
Kureha (a Peptidomannan present in Karawatake Mushrooms) may be effective for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Carotenoids
Astaxanthin may reduce the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. [10]
Cryptoxanthin may help to prevent Rheumatoid Arthritis. [11]
Enzymes
Proteases (both Dietary Proteolytic Enzymes and endogenous Proteolytic Enzymes administered orally) may alleviate Rheumatoid Arthritis (by inhibiting the further progression of the Inflammatory processes that underlie the Joint damage characterized by Rheumatoid Arthritis): [12]
Bromelain (1,200 - 1,800 mg per day, especially when used in combination with other Proteases) may reduce the Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [13]Chymotrypsin (especially when used in combination with other Proteases) may minimize the Pain and Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [14]
Papain (especially when used in combination with other Proteases) may minimize the Pain and Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [15]
Trypsin (especially when used in combination with other Proteases) may minimize the Pain and Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [16]
Supplemental Pancreatic Enzymes may alleviate the Inflammation associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. [17]
Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) (Cu-Zn SOD form administered via injection) may help to protect against and heal Rheumatoid Arthritis: [18]
Rheumatoid Arthritis patients often exhibit deficient levels of (Cellular) Superoxide Dismutase in their Neutrophils.
Hormones
Supplemental DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) may protect against the development of Rheumatoid Arthritis - this theory is based on the finding that Rheumatoid Arthritis patients generally exhibit low endogenous DHEA levels. [19]
Supplemental, exogenous Pregnenolone (500 mg per day) was developed originally as a treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis and may be effective against Rheumatoid Arthritis during the early stages of the disease. [20]
Optimal Testosterone levels may protect against the development of Rheumatoid Arthritis in males - this theory is based on the finding that male Rheumatoid Arthritis patients generally exhibit low endogenous DHEA levels. [21]
Lipids
Beta-Sitosterol (especially when used in conjunction with Sterolins such as Beta-Sitosterol Glycoside) may help to control Rheumatoid Arthritis (by stimulating the proliferation of TH1 Helper T-Cells and deactivating TH2 Helper T-Cells). [22]
Beta-Sitosterol Glycoside (especially when used in conjunction with Phytosterols such as Beta-Sitosterol) may help to control Rheumatoid Arthritis (by stimulating the proliferation of TH1 Helper T-Cells and deactivating TH2 Helper T-Cells). [23]
Boswellic Acid may minimize Inflammation in Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. [24]
Cetyl Myristoleate (CMO) may be effective for the treatment of RheumatoidArthritis (often resulting in a total cure - some medical researchers claim that CMO is the most effective treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis yet discovered): [25]
