Description

Athletic Performance is a measure of performance in terms of Energy or Exercise, sport or training activities.

These Substances may Improve Athletic Performance

Alkaloids

Betaine may improve Athletic Performance (by improving the body’s Energy levels, increasing Stamina and improving the body’s utilization of Oxygen).  [1]

Caffeine may (temporarily) improve Athletic Performance:  [2]

The means by which Caffeine may improve Athletic Performance has been theorized to be via stimulation of the Central Nervous System (= Alertness); and via mobilization of Free Fatty Acids in the bloodstream for the production of Energy (= less depletion of Glucose (Blood Sugar)).

Ephedrine (or the Herb Ephedra) consumed in conjunction with Caffeine may further potentiate the improvement in Athletic Performance caused by Caffeine.  [3]

Amino Acids

Alanine may improve Athletic Performance.  [4]

Aspartic Acid (Magnesium or Potassium Aspartate form) may improve Athletic Performance.  [5]

Amino Acids - Branched Chain (BCAAs) supplementation may improve Athletic Performance.  [6]

Carnitine (1 - 4 grams per day) facilitates the production of Energy within the body and provides Energy within the Muscles, thereby improving Athletic Performance:  [7]

Carnitine enhances Athletic Performance in persons who engage in Aerobic Exercise.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may improve Athletic Performance.  [8]

Propionyl-L-Carnitine may improve Athletic Performance.  [9]

Citrulline may improve Athletic Performance.  [10]

Creatine Monohydrate may improve Athletic Performance (by facilitating the delivery of Phosphorus to the Muscles).  [11]

Hydroxy Methylbutyrate (HMB) (3,000 mg per day used for two weeks prior to an event) may improve Athletic Performance (it may improve [12]) in persons who undertake Endurance Exercise.

 L-Dopa may improve Athletic Performance.

Taurine may improve Athletic Performance.  [13]

Carbohydrates

Supplemental Dihydroxyacetone may enhance some aspects of Athletic Performance.  [14]

Optimal Glycogen levels (in Muscles) may facilitate optimal Athletic Performance.  [15]

Supplemental Ribose may improve some aspects of Athletic Performance.  [16]

Coenzymes

Supplemental NADH (5 mg per day) may improve various measurements of Athletic Performance.  [17]

Electromagnetic Radiation

Negative Ions therapy may improve Athletic Performance:

Negative Ions used in the sleeping quarters of athletes improved their performance according to Russian studies.

Futher studies have demonstrated that ergometer endurance was increased by 260% in 32 days following the inhalation for 15 minutes daily of air enriched with 1.5 million Negative Ions per cubic cm.

Hormones

Supplemental Androstenedione may improve Athletic Performance:  [18]

German athletes who were administered supplemental Androstenedione in the form of a Nasal Spray reported improvements in Athletic Performance.

Lipids

Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) may improve Athletic Performance (according to anecdotal reports from numerous athletes).  [19]
