These Substances may Prevent/Alleviate Pancreatitis
Alkaloids
Capsaicin may reduce the severity of (acute) Pancreatitis. [1]
Amino Acids
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may help to prevent Pancreatitis. [2]
Glutamine may improve the condition of (acute) Pancreatitis patients. [3]
Methionine may be useful for the prevention and treatment of (chronic) Pancreatitis (due to its Antioxidant properties that protect the Pancreas from the excessive generation of Free Radicals that are speculated to cause Pancreatitis). [4]
N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) may reduce the severity of Pancreatitis. [5]
Taurine may reduce the severity of Pancreatitis. [6]
Antioxidants
Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) may be useful for the treatment of (acute) Pancreatitis. [7]
Enzymes
Pancreatitis patients often have low Glutathione Peroxidase levels. [8]
Supplemental Pancreatic Enzymes may be a useful treatment for Pancreatitis. [9]
Hormones
Melatonin may help to prevent Pancreatitis (due to the Antioxidant effects of Melatonin). [10]
Lipids
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) may reduce Inflammation in (acute) Pancreatitis patients. [11]
Phosphatidylcholine may inhibit the ability of Alcohol (ethanol) to cause Pancreatitis. [12]
Microorganisms
Bacteria - Beneficial may reduce the severity of (acute) Pancreatitis. [13]
Minerals
Chronic Pancreatitis patients often have low blood Selenium levels (indicating that supplemental Selenium may prevent or alleviate Pancreatitis) and supplemental Selenium may be useful for the treatment of (chronic) Pancreatitis (due to the Antioxidant properties of Selenium). [14]
Zinc may improve various aspects of (acute) Pancreatitis. [15]
Nucleic Compounds
Inosine may reduce the severity of (acute) Pancreatitis. [16]
Organic Acids
Ellagic Acid may help to treat/prevent Pancreatitis. [17]
Peptides
Pancreatitis patients often have low plasma Glutathione levels and Glutathione repletion may reduce the severity of Pancreatitis. [18]
