Also known as:  Muscle Fatigue;  Myasthenia

Description

Muscle Weakness occurs from lack of Muscle Tone/Muscle Tension in the Skeletal Muscles.

These Substances may Alleviate Muscle Weakness

Amino Acids

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Arginine deficiency.  [1]

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Carnitine deficiency and Carnitine deficiency may be the underlying cause of the Muscle Weakness experienced by Muscular Dystrophy patients.  [2]

Methionine may alleviate Muscle Weakness.  [3]

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) may help to prevent Muscle Weakness.  [4]

Hormones

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of insufficient production/release of Human Growth Hormone (hGH) and supplemental, exogenous hGH partially reverses Muscle Weakness.  [5]

Insufficient endogenous production of Testosterone may cause Muscle Weakness (Testosterone facilitates Glycogen metabolism within Muscle Cells).  [6]

Lipids

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) deficiency - LNA is essential or the formation of the (healthy) Fat that surrounds Muscles.

Mineral Acids

Bicarbonate (300 - 400 mg of Sodium Bicarbonate consumed prior to Exercise) may delay the onset of Muscle Weakness in people who undertake strenous Exercise and may accelerate the recovery of Muscles following strenuous Exercise (this occurs from Bicarbonate causing Lactic Acid to be secreted out of Muscle Fibers and neutralized).  [7]

Minerals

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Magnesium deficiency.  [8]

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Phosphorus deficiency.  [9]

The correct Potassium:Sodium balance may be essential for the normal function of the Muscles:

Potassium and Sodium are involved in the contraction of Muscles and deficiencies of either Mineral may cause Muscle Weakness.

Muscle Weakness may occur as a result of Selenium deficiency.  [10]

Quinones

Coenzyme Q10 may help to prevent the Muscle Weakness caused by Zidovudine (AZT).
