 Sebum is released from Hair Follicles in the Scalp after its manufacture by Sebaceous Glands.

 

These Substances may Improve the Health of the Scalp

Minerals

 Potassium may alleviate dryness or Itching of the Scalp. 

 Sulfur may improve Blood Circulation to the Scalp. 

 

Prescribed Medications

 Minoxidil (applied topically) dilates the capillaries of the Scalp (it is speculated that this effect occurs as a result of Minoxidil stimulating the production of Nitric Oxide) and thereby improves Blood Circulation to the Scalp.  [1]
