Overview

Bronchitis is a Respiratory System Ailment involving the Inflammation of the Mucous Membranes of the Bronchial Tubes caused by infection by Viruses or Detrimental Bacteria and occasionally by other Antigens. Bronchitis is usually accompanied by excessive Mucus production, Coughing, Pain in the chest and/or back and shortness of Breath.

Prevalence

Acute Bronchitis is the ninth most common outpatient illness observed by physicians.

Chronic Bronchitis affects approximately 5% of the population of Western nations and is the seventh highest ranking chronic ailment in Western nations.  It occurs more frequently in women than in men and occurs more frequently in persons over the age of 45.

These Substances may Alleviate or Prevent Bronchitis

Alkaloids

Berberine may alleviate some cases of Bronchitis (by suppressing the Chlamydia pneumoniae bacteria that is a common cause of acute Bronchitis).

Amino Acids

Cysteine (especially the N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) form of Cysteine) may alleviate Bronchitis (by liquefying the mucus that contributes to Bronchitis and by suppressing the detrimental Bacteria that reside in the Bronchial Tract.  [1]

Alliin a derivative of Cysteine may alleviate Bronchitis by acting as an expectorant.

Cystine may promote healing in the Respiratory Tract and may therefore useful in the treatment of Bronchitis.

Carbohydrates

Mannitol (administered via inhalation) may improve Lung function in Bronchiectasis patients.

Electromagnetic Radiation

Atmospheric Ions - Negative may counteract the allergic effects of Positive Atmospheric Ions on the tissues of the Respiratory System and may thereby alleviate the symptoms of Bronchitis where the underlying cause of Bronchitis is excessive exposure to Positive Atmospheric Ions.  [2]

Enzymes

Bromelain may reduce the quantity of Mucous produced by (chronic) Bronchitis patients.  [3]

Serrapeptase (30 mg per day) may reduce Coughing and Mucous viscosity in (chronic) Bronchitis patients.  [4]

Lipids

Omega-3 Fatty Acids may help to prevent (chronic) Bronchitis.  [5]

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) may help to prevent Bronchitis.  [6]

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) may help to prevent Bronchitis.  [7]

Minerals

Silver may kill the Detrimental Microorganisms that cause Bronchitis.  [8]

Nucleic Compounds

Deoxyribonucleic Acid (microdose DNA therapy administered sublingually) may be useful for the treatment of (chronic) Bronchitis.  [9]

Polyphenols

Luteolin may alleviate (chronic) Bronchitis.  [10]

Smart Drugs

Biostim may prevent Bronchitis (both forms of Bronchitis) and may prevent Bronchitis from becoming fatal.  [11]

Sulfuric Compounds

Allyl Isothiocyanate may alleviate Bronchitis (by functioning as an expectorant).

Vitamins

Vitamin A (7,500 IU per day) may stimulate the Mucous Membranes of the Respiratory Tract to resist the infections that cause Bronchitis.  [12]
