Description          

The Pituitary Gland is an Endocrine Gland situated at the back of the Brain - often regarded as a component of the Diencephalon of the Brain (the Pituitary does not contain Neurons and is therefore not correctly described as a component of the Nervous System).  The Pituitary Gland is under the control of and has physical connections to the Hypothalamus (the "master gland" within the Brain) - the Hypothalamus produces numerous Releasing Factors (Releasing Hormones) that travel to and influence the nearby Pituitary Gland.
