Hyperthermia
Also known as: Heat Therapy; Hyperthermy; Thermal Therapy; Thermotherapy
Description
Hyperthermia is a type of therapy that involves deliberately-induced extreme Fever (pyrexia) that causes the body's temperature to rise above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) up to 48.8 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit). Hyperthermia is identical to the disorder named Hyperpyrexia - the term Hyperpyrexia applies where extreme Fever occurs in unwarranted situations while Hyperthermia is the term used when extreme Fever is deliberately induced as a therapeutic measure (usually in the treatment of Cancer). The means by which the increased temperature (Fever) that is induced by Hyperthermia is generated usually involves the artificial generation of various spectrums of electromagnetic waves.
