Description

Detrimental Fungi are a group of (many) toxic microorganisms that are responsible for a number of Parasitic Diseases.

There are an estimated 1.5 million species of Fungi.  Only 7% of these have been described by modern science.  Presently approximately 400 species have been demonstrated to cause disease in humans.

These Substances may Inhibit Detrimental Fungi

Aldehydes

Cinnamaldehyde (a constituent of Cinnamon) may inhibit/kill some types of Detrimental Fungi.  [1]

Alkaloids

Berberine may exert antimicrobial effects against several types of Detrimental Fungi.  [2]

Echinacin may suppress some types of Detrimental Fungi.

Lipids

Caprylic Acid may inhibit some types of Detrimental Fungi.

Lauric Acid may inhibit Detrimental Fungi.

One of the functions of Sebum is to protect the Skin from infection by Detrimental Fungi (primarily due to the Squalene contents of human Sebum).

Squalene (applied topically to the Skin or as a component of endogenous Sebum) may help to prevent infection of the Skin by Detrimental Fungi.  [3]

Undecylenic Acid may inhibit various types of Detrimental Fungi (and is more potent for inhibiting Detrimental Fungi than Caprylic Acid).  [4]

Minerals

 Iodine may suppress Detrimental Fungi.

Silver (colloidal Silver applied topically) may prevent infection of the Skin by Detrimental Fungi.

Organic Acids

Ellagic Acid may inhibit some types of Detrimental Fungi.  [5]

Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen may enhance the ability of White Blood Cells to kill DetrimentalFungi.

Phenolic Acids

Caffeic Acid may suppress some types of Detrimental Fungi.

Polyphenols

 Pinocembrin may suppress Detrimental Fungi.

Quercetin may suppress many forms of DetrimentalFungi.  [6]

Resveratrol inhibits some forms of Detrimental Fungi.

Proteins

Lactoferrin may suppress some types of Detrimental Fungi.  [7]

Quinones

Lapachol (a Naphthaquinone present in Pau D’Arco) may suppress some types of Detrimental Fungi.  [8]

Sulfuric Compounds

Ajoene may destroy many types of Detrimental Fungi.  [9]
