Staphylococcus aureus
Also known as: Golden Staph; S. aureus; Staphylococci aureus; Staphylococcus pyogenes aureus
Description
Staphylococcus aureus is the primary species of Staphylococci Detrimental Bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus is potentially pathogenic though widespread on the Skin and present in the Nose and Throat of 30% of healthy people.
These Substances may Counteract Staphylococci aureus
Alkaloids
Berberine may inhibit/kill Staphyloccus aureus (including Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus). [1]
Enzymes
Bromelain may reduce the quantity of Mucous produced during Staphylococcus aureus infections. Bromelain may enhance the effectiveness of Pharmaceutical Antibiotics for the treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections. [2]
Lipids
Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) may suppress Staphylococcus aureus.
Monolaurin may inhibit/kill Staphylococcus aureus. [3]
Glycosides
Echinacoside (a constituent of Echinacea) may suppress Staphylococcus aureus.
Microorganisms
Bifidobacteria bifidus may suppress Staphylococcs aureus. [4]
Bifidobacteria bulgaricus may suppress Staphylococcus aureus. [5]
Lactobacillus acidophilus may suppress Staphylococcus aureus (including Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus): [6]
Lactobacillus acidophilus - DDS-1 strain may inhibit Staphylococcus aureus.
Lactobacillus casei may inhibit/kill Staphylococcus aureus (including Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus). [7]
Rhizopus oligosporus may suppress Staphylococcus aureus.
Minerals
Silver (applied topically or consumed orally) is highly effective for killing Staphylococcus auerus. [8]
Non-Nutritional Factors
Staphylococcus aureus is easily killed by Heat of Cooking Methods but the exotoxins released by Staphylococci require boiling for 30 minutes in order to detoxify them.
Prescribed Medications
Very few Pharmaceutical Antibiotics are effective against Staphylococcus aureus, notably only:
Clindamycin is used for the treatment of severe Staphylococcus aureus infections.
Cloxacillin
Methicillin (however Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is widespread).
Streptomycin
Vancomycin (Vancomycin was formerly effective against all Antibiotic-Resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, however Staphylococcus aureus is now beginning to become resistant to Vancomycin - strains of Staphylococcus aureus that are beginning to become resistant to Vancomycin are known as Vancomycin Intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA)). This increases the possibility that some strains may in the future become fully resistant to Vancomycin.
