Description
Vancomycin is a type of Pharmaceutical Antibiotic (from the Cell Wall Inhibitor class) produced from Nocardia orientalis.
Therapeutic Uses of Vancomycin
The total inability of Vancomycin to be absorbed from the Gastrointestinal Tract limits the usefulness of orally-administered Vancomycin. It must be administered intravenously for the treatment of most infections (with the exception of Enterocolitis, which can be treated with oral Vancomycin).
