Fructose
Overview
Fructose, fruit sugar, is a type of Hexose Monosaccharide Simple Sugar Carbohydrate. It is twice as sweet as Sucrose.
Health Benefits of Fructose
Contrary to previous claims for Fructose's superiority over Glucose, Fructose plays no special/essential part in human nutrition.
Detoxification
Fructose is the only substance presently known that can accelerate the clearance of Alcohol (ethanol) from the bloodstream.
Sexual System
Fructose provides the necessary Energy to provide Sperm with their motility (as a component of the Seminal Plasma portion of Semen).
Fructose may Enhance the Function of these Substances
Amines
Fructose (in its Fructose-6-Phosphate form) is a constituent of Glucosamine (Glucosamine-6-Phosphate form) (the Glucosamine Synthetase enzyme transfers and amide group (NH3) from Glutamine to Fructose-6-Phosphate to form Glucosamine-6-Phosphate). [1]
Carbohydrates
Fructose is a component of Fructooligosaccharides (FOS).
Fructose is the primary component of Inulin (a Polysaccharide).
Fructose is a component of Lactulose (a Disaccharide).
Fructose is a constituent of the molecular structure of Melezitose (a Trisaccharide).
Fructose is a component of Sucrose (a Disaccharide).
Sexual Fluids
Fructose is a component of the Seminal Plasma component of Semen where it provides Energy to Sperm.
Toxic Effects of Fructose
Aging Process
Excessive consumption of Fructose may accelerate the Aging Process (due to it accelerating the process of Cross-Linking in the body’s Tissues). [2]
Cardiovascular System
Excessive consumption of Fructose may increase the risk of abnormal Blood Clotting ailments.
Excessive consumption of Fructose may increase the risk of Cardiovascular Diseases.
Excessive consumption of Fructose may cause Hypertension. [3]
Digestive System
Fructose may cause Colic (in infants who are Fructose Intolerant). [4]
Excessive consumption of Fructose may cause Diarrhea (especially in persons who are Fructose Intolerant). [5]
Fructose may cause the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Fructose malabsorption may be an underlying cause of some cases of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. [6]
Excretory System
Excessive consumption of Fructose may increase the risk of Calcium Oxalate Kidney Stones (by increasing the concentration of Calcium in the Urine and increasing the urinary output of the N-Acetyl-Glucosaminidase enzyme that is only present in persons with Kidney Ailments).
Excessive consumption of Fructose may damage the Kidneys (Fructose may cause chronic Kidney Disease). [7]
Immune System
Fructose may be implicated in some types of Cancer:
