These Substances may Prevent/Alleviate Retinopathy

Amino Acids

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) may inhibit the loss of Vision and damage to the Retina associated with Retinopathy (including diabetic Retinopathy).  [1]

Ethylene-Diamine-Tetra-Acetate (EDTA) - the synthetic Amino Acid used in Chelation Therapy – may improve eyesight in persons afflicted with (diabetic) Retinopathy.

Taurine may help to prevent (diabetic) Retinopathy.  [2]

Minerals

Diabetes Mellitus patients may have a greater risk of (diabetic) Retinopathy if they are deficient in Magnesium compared to Diabetes Mellitus patients who are not deficient in Magnesium.  [3]

Polyphenols

Anthocyanosides may help to prevent Retinopathy.  [4]

Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPCs) may be a good treatment for (diabetic) Retinopathy (as OPCs may strengthen the Capillaries that supply the Retina).  [5]

Pycnogenol may be a good treatment for (diabetic) Retinopathy (as Pycnogenol may strengthen the Capillaries that supply the Retina).  [6]
