Genistein

Overview

Genistein is a type of water-soluble Isoflavonoid Bioflavonoid Polyphenol Compound also regarded as a Phytoestrogen.  ^[1]

Cardiovascular System

 Genistein may help to prevent Atherosclerosis.  ^[2]

Digestive System

 Genistein (50 mg per day) may help to prevent Gallstones. 

Excretory System

 Genistein (50 mg per day) may enhance the function of the Kidneys. 

Immune System

 Genistein may directly inhibit the development of many types of Cancer (by functioning as an inhibitor) and by blocking Cancer-initiating enzymes:  ^[3]

 Genistein may help to prevent Cancer - Breast (women who consume 20 - 80 mg of Genistein (from Soyabeans) per day have a very low incidence of Breast Cancer.  ^[4]

 Genistein may help to prevent Cancer - Colon. 

 Continuous, high intake of Genistein may help to treat Glioblastoma Multiforme - a form of Brain Cancer (however Genistein should not be used while undergoing periods of Radiation Therapy).  ^[5]

 Genistein may inhibit the further growth of the Cancer cells involved in (the Acute Promyelocytic form of) Leukemia.  ^[6]

 Genistein may inhibit the proliferation of Cancer - Liver Cells.  ^[7]
