Zeaxanthin is a type of Dihydroxycarotenoid Xanthophyll (yellow) Carotenoid that is chemically similar to Lutein.

 Zeaxanthin may help to prevent Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) - consumption of 2.9 mg or more of Zeaxanthin per day may lower the risk of developing ARMD by approximately 57%.  [1]

 Zeaxanthin may protect against the development of Cataracts (by protecting the Cells of the Eyes from Light-generated (especially Sunlight-generated) Free Radicals).  [2]

 Zeaxanthin concentrates in the Lens of the Eyes.  [3]
