Glutamic Acid - Substances Enhanced by
Glutamic Acid may Enhance the Function of these Substances
Amino Acids
Alanine can be synthesized within the body by transamination from Glutamic Acid (in the presence of Pyruvic Acid). [1]
Aspartic Acid can be formed within the body from Glutamic Acid. [2]
Glutamine (which cannot pass through the Blood-Brain Barrier) converts within the body to Glutamic Acid (which can pass through the Blood-Brain Barrier) which then combines with Ammonia to reform back into Glutamine. [3]
Proline can be formed within the body from Glutamic Acid. [4]
Carbohydrates
Glutamic Acid can be metabolized to form Glycogen within the Liver after it has lost its amino group by transamination.
