Helper T-Cells - TH2
Also known as: TH2 Helper Cells; TH2 Helper T-Cells; T-Helper-2 Cells
Description
TH2 Helper T-Cells are one of the two types of Helper T-Cells.
Ideally, TH2 Helper T-Cells should be in equal balance with TH1 Helper T-Cells. When either subset of Helper T-Cells dominate, illness results.
Biological Function of TH2 Helper Cells
Cytokines
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 3 (IL-3).
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 4 (IL-4) which is subsequently involved in the differentiation of B-Lymphocytes.
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 5 (IL-3).
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 6 (IL-6) which is subsequently involved in the differentiation of B-Lymphocytes.
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 9 (IL-9).
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 10 (IL-10) which is subsequently involved in the differentiation of B-Lymphocytes.
TH2 Helper T-Cells release Interleukin 13 (IL-13).
Immune System
TH2 Helper T-Cells are primarily responsible for the Humoral Immunity arm of the Immune System which involves the differentiation of B-Lymphocytes which leads to Antibodies responding to and limiting the damage induced by extracellular Detrimental Microorganisms.
These Substances may Inhibit Excessive TH2 Helper T-Cells Activity
Cytokines
Interleukin 12 may prevent the activation of TH2 Helper T-Cells. [1]
