Interleukin 10 is a type of Interleukin produced by TH2 Helper T-Cells.
Biological Function of Interleukin 10
Immune System
Interleukin 10 helps to reduce Inflammation.
Interleukin 10 enhances the growth and differentiation of Mast Cells. Caution: Excessive activity of Mast Cells is detrimental.
Interleukin 10 inhibits the secretion of Interferon Gamma (this is usually a negative activity).
Nervous System
Increased production of Interleukin 10 may be desirable in Alzheimer's Disease patients as it may inhibit the generation of pro-inflammatory Cytokines in the Brains of Alzheimer’s Disease patients. [1]
