Description

Herpes Simplex Viruses, Herpes Catarrhalis; Herpes Facialis; Herpes Febrilis; Hydroa Febrile; are a group of Lipid-containing group of Viruses.

Prevalence

Approximately 80% of people are carriers of Herpes Simplex Viruses and 25% of these people suffer from Herpes Simplex attacks throughout their lives.

These Substances may Inhibit Herpes Simplex Viruses

The underlying strategy for preventing HSV outbreaks in persons already infected with HSV involves enhancing the function of the Immune System - particularly the function of the Thymus Gland.

Amino Acids

Lysine (1,000 - 3,000 mg per day) may accelerate the healing of the lesions associated with Herpes Simplex Viruses, may reduce the severity of the lesions associated with Herpes Simplex Viruses and may reduce the number of recurrences of the lesions associated with Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [1]

Antioxidants

Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) (250 -1,000 mg per day) may be extremely effective for suppressing HerpesSimplex Viruses:  [2]

BHT may totally suppress HSV and may accelerate the healing of existing Herpes lesions;  and may prevent non-infected persons from contracting Herpes Simplex Viruses.

Carbohydrates

Carrageenans (all forms) may enter Cells infected with Herpes Simplex Viruses and may then inhibit these Viruses.

Fucoidan may inhibit/kill Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [3]

Glycosides

Glycyrrhizin (and its derivative Glycyrrhetinic Acid) may inhibit the growth and cell damaging effects of Herpes Simplex Viruses.

Lignans

Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid (NDGA) may inhibit and possibly kill Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [4]

Lipids

AL 721 may interfere with the infectivity of the Herpes Simplex Virus (Types I and II).

Eugenol may kill Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [5]

Glycerol (applied topically to lesions) may alleviate the Pain and Itching associated with Herpes Simplex lesions.

Lauric Acid may attack the lipid membrane of the Herpes Simplex Virus.

Monolaurin (the Monoglyceride of Lauric Acid) may attack the lipid membrane of the Herpes Simplex Virus.

Undecylenic Acid (applied topically) may inhibit Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [6]

Microorganisms

Lactobacillus acidophilus may reduce the severity of Herpes Simplex Virus infections and may help to prevent further outbreaks of Herpes Simplex infections.

Minerals

Copper may suppress Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [7]

The Lithium Succinate form of Lithium (ointment applied topically) accelerates the healing of Herpes Simplex lesions in up to 70% of cases.  Oral Lithium therapy may reduce the number of episodes of Herpes Simplex outbreaks, may reduce the duration of each episode and may reduce the severity of the symptoms of Herpes Simplex outbreaks.  [8]

Selenium may inhibit the replication of Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [9]

Zinc (especially topically applied 0.25% Zinc Sulfate cream) may accelerate the resolution of Herpes Simplex Viruses:  [10]

Zinc Oxide (applied topically) may accelerate the healing of the lesions associated with Herpes Simplex Viruses.  [11]

Mineral Acids

Boric Acid (diluted Sodium Borate ointment applied topically) may accelerate the healing of the lesions associated with Herpes Simplex Viruses:  [12]
