Streptococcus mutans resides on the Enamel of Teeth and may cause Tooth Decay when it interacts with various Simple Sugars (Sucrose, Glucose, Fructose or Maltose) to form Lactic Acid and ultimately the Plaque that causes Tooth Decay.
