Propionibacterium acnes is implicated in the development of Acne:
Propionibacterium acnes multiplies within the Sebaceous Glands and produce large quantities of the Lipase enzyme which metabolizes the Sebum in the Sebaceous Glands to other Fatty Acids. These Fatty Acids cause Inflammation and eventual rupture of the Sebaceous Glands.
