Androstenediol

Description

Androstenediol is a type of Androgen manufactured from Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) - primarily in the Brain and the Skin.

Musculoskeletal System

 Supplemental Androstenediol (150 - 300 mg per day) may facilitate Muscle Growth (due to Androstenediol functioning as a precursor for the endogenous production of Testosterone).  Some sources also claim that Androstenediol (5-Androstenediol form) also exerts Muscle-building effects directly (i.e. prior to and independent to its conversion to Testosterone).  ^[1]

 Androstenediol may increase Muscle Strength.  ^[2]

Carbohydrates

 Cyclodextrins are used as penetration enhancing agents to increase the sublingual absorption of Androstenediol.  Cyclodextrins “embrace†Androstenediol molecules, “smuggling†them into solution in watery fluid.  By “hiding†the Androstenediol molecule, Water is “tricked†into permitting Androstenediol into solution, where it can then disperse throughout the mouth.  When the Cyclodextrin-Androstenediol complex reaches a lipid-based area or structure (for example the Oral Mucosal membranes), the Androstenediol slides out of its “sleeve†(Cyclodextrin) and penetrates the cell.  The complex of a Cyclodextrin and Androstenediol is known as a Sublingual Cyclodextrin Complex (SCC).  ^[3]
