Description

Enamel is the extremely hard outer covering of the Crown of the Teeth.

 

These Substances may Enhance Enamel Formation or Protect Enamel

Amino Acids

 Threonine may be essential for the formation of Enamel. 

 

Carbohydrates

 Xylitol may retard the demineralization of Enamel and may promote the remineralization of Enamel.  [1]

 

Minerals

 Boron concentrates in Tooth Enamel.  [2]

 Calcium Phosphate (Apatite) is the major compound found in Tooth Enamel:

 1% of the body's Calcium is stored in Tooth Enamel (as Calcium Phosphate).

 The addition of Calcium Glycerophosphate (Calcium GP) to Sodium Monofluorophosphate Toothpaste may re-harden demineralized Tooth Enamel and may promote remineralization after acid attack.

 Calcium Sodium Phosphosilicate (applied topically via Toothpaste) may remineralize Enamel.  [3]

 Fluorine (applied topically) may promote proper Enamel formation and Toothpastes that contain either of several topically-bioavailable forms of Fluoride are absorbed by the Enamel of the Teeth:  [4]
