Cancer - Endometrium
Also known as: Endometrial Cancer; Endometrioid Carcinoma
Description
Endometrial Cancer is a form of Uterus Cancer that afflicts the Endometrium.
Prevalence
Endometrial Cancer is most prevalent in postmenopausal women (especially in women aged 50 - 60).
Endometrial Cancer is extremely rare in premenopausal females (except during the 5-10 year period prior to Menopause when Estrogen dominance is common).
In the USA, Endometrial Cancer is the fourth most common malignancy in women (1996 data).
These Substances may Help to Prevent Endometrial Cancer
Auxins
Indole-3-Carbinol may inhibit the development of Endometrial Cancer. [1]
Carbohydrates
High consumption of Dietary Fiber may help to prevent Endometrial Cancer. [2]
Lentinan may improve the effectiveness of exogenous, genetically-engineered Interleukin 2 to kill the cells involved in Endometrial Cancer.
Carotenoids
Beta-Carotene may help to protect against the development of Endometrial Cancer.
Lycopene may inhibit the proliferation of Cancer Cells involved in EndometrialCancer (primarily by interfering with the ability of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) to stimulate the growth of Endometrial Cancer Cells). [3]
Hormones
Low plasma Melatonin levels have been implicated in Endometrium Cancer (women with Endometrial Cancer have significantly lower plasma Melatonin levels compared to healthy women). [4]
Supplemental, exogenous natural Progesterone may help to prevent Endometrial Cancer (by counteracting Estrogen-dominance that is implicated in Endometrial Cancer). [5]
Immune System Chemicals (Cytokines)
Exogenous (genetically engineered) Interleukin 2 (IL-2) may enhance the ability of cells of the Immune System to mount a defense against Endometrial Cancer.
