Alpha-Glucosidases
Description
Alpha-Glucosidases are a group of Disaccharidase Carbohydrase Enzymes.
The specificity of Alpha-Glucosidases is directed primarily towards the exohydrolysis of 1,4 alpha-glucosidic linkages. They hydrolyze Oligosaccharides rapidly relative to Polysaccharides, which are hydrolyzed slowly or not at all.
Biological Function of Alpha-Glucosidases
Carbohydrates
Alpha-Glucosidases catalyze the conversion of Disaccharides to Monosaccharides.
