Description

Arrhythmias are any deviations in the normal rhythm of the Heart (heartbeat).  They usually occur as a result of interference with the electrical pathways that produce the Heart's rhythmic muscular contractions.  The Parasympathetic Nervous System is responsible for slowing down the Heartbeat rate.  The Beta-1 Adrenergic Receptors of the Beta-Adrenergic Nervous System are responsible for speeding up the Heartbeat rate.

Severe Arrhythmias can cause DEATH (they may cause the Heart to suddenly stop functioning).Sudden cessation of heart function due to Arrhythmias is known as Sudden Cardiac Death. Minor Arrhythmias are also known as:  Palpitations

These Substances may Alleviate Arrhythmias

Amino Acids

Ethylene-Diamine-Tetra-Acetate (EDTA) - the synthetic Amino Acid used in Chelation Therapy may alleviate Arrhythmias.  [1]

By normalizing Potassium flow into and out of Cardiac Muscle cells, Taurine may normalize the electrical excitability of the Cell Membranes of Cardiac Muscle, thereby helping to prevent Arrhythmias.  [2]

Lipids

Beta-Ecdysterone may alleviate some types of Arrhythmias.  [3]

Omega-3 Fatty Acids may help to prevent Arrhythmias:  [4]

Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) (1,500 mg per day) may counteract Arrhythmias (it may reduce ventricular premature complexes associated with Arrhythmias by approximately 50%).  [5]

Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) (900 mg per day) may counteract Arrhythmias (it may reduce ventricular premature complexes associated with Arrhythmias by approximately 50%).  [6]

Minerals

Calcium may help to normalize Heartbeat in Arrhythmia patients.

Arrhythmias may occur as a result of Iodine deficiency.  [7]

Arrhythmias may occur as a result of Iron deficiency.

Magnesium deficiency may cause severe Arrhythmias resulting in sudden death:  [8]

Injecting Magnesium into the bloodstream of Heart Attack patients upon arrival at hospital may reduce the chances of death from Arrhythmia.
