Description

Papilloma Viruses are a group of at least seventy small DNA-containing Viruses.  They are commonly spread via unprotected sexual intercourse.

 

Toxic Effects of Papilloma Viruses

Immune System

 Recurrent infection by Papilloma Viruses may cause Cervical Dysplasia:

 25% of all irregularities observed in pap smears may be attributable to Papilloma Viruses.

 Papilloma Viruses (HPV-16 and HPV-18) are a direct cause of Cervix (cervical) Cancer:  [1]

 80% of cases of Cervical Cancer are attributable to Papilloma Viruses.

 The underlying mechanism for the ability of Papilloma Virus (HPV 16) to cause Cervical Cancer involves HPV-16 stimulating the conversion of Estrone to 16-Hydroxyestrone (a byproduct of Estrone that is implicated in Cervical Cancer).

 Papilloma Viruses cause Papillomas.

 Papilloma Viruses (especially HPV-16) may increase the risk of Prostate Cancer.  [2]

 Papilloma Viruses may cause Squamous Cell Carcinoma.  [3]

 

Skin

 Papilloma Viruses (HPV-6 and HPV-11) cause (Skin and Genital) Warts.
