Description

Hyaluronidase is a type of Connective Tissue Enzyme (the term Hyaluronidase actually applies to 3 different Enzymes that act on Hyaluronic Acid).

Biological Function of Hyaluronidase

Immune System

Hyaluronidase is produced by the Spleen (in order to facilitate the destruction of Red Blood Cells (i.e. in order to facilitate the process of hemolysis).

Musculoskeletal System

Hyaluronidase is produced by damaged Cartilage (in order to facilitate the softening and regeneration of Cartilage when damaged).

Sexual System

Hyaluronidase is produced by Sperm (to dissolve the protective layer that surrounds female Ovum).

Toxic Effects of Hyaluronidase

Immune System

Hyaluronidase may facilitate the growth of Cancer cells - it breaks down endogenous structural proteins such as Collagen which normally retard the growth of Cancer cells.  [1]

Hyaluronidase (Hyaluronate Lyase form) may increase the risk of Colon Cancer.
