Biological Function of Fatty Acid Synthase
Fatty Acid Synthase catalyzes the conversion of Acetyl Coenzyme A + Malonyl Coenzyme A + NADPH to form Palmitic Acid.
The Palmitic Acid produced by Fatty Acid Synthase is stored in White Adipose Tissue. Excessive activity of Fatty Acid Synthase therefore contributes to Obesity.
