Alcohols are a large group of chemical compounds that are the starting point for the synthesis of many other chemicals.
Groups of Alcohols
Primary Alcohols are Alcohols that have two Hydrogen atoms attached to the Carbon with the Hydroxyl group. Primary Alcohols oxidize to Aldehydes.
Secondary Alcohols are Alcohols that have one Hydrogen atom attached to the Carbon with the Hydroxyl group. Secondary Alcohols oxidize to Ketones.
