Description

Oil Pulling is a traditional Indian alternative medicine therapy/procedure that involves swishing oil in the mouth for oral and/or systemic benefits.

 

Health Benefits of Oil Pulling

Immune System

 Oil Pulling may kill Streptococcus mutans in the oral cavity.  [1]

Oil Pulling Procedure

 A tablespoon of Oil (usually, but not limited to, Sesame Seed Oil) is put into the mouth and then sipped, sucked or pulled between the Teeth for 10 – 20 minutes (until the Oil turns thin and milky white).

 The Oil should not be swallowed as it contains Detrimental Bacteria and other toxins.  The Oil should be spat out.

 Oil Pulling therapy should be followed by brushing the Teeth and should be performed on an empty Stomach in the morning.

 

Dietary Oils Used in Oil Pulling

 Sesame Seed Oil is the original and most commonly used Dietary Oil used in Oil Pulling.

 Sunflower Seed Oil

 Coconut Oil
