These Substances may Cause Wrinkles

Carbohydrates

Excessive consumption of Simple Sugars may cause Cross-Linking (glycosylation) of the Collagen in Skin, resulting in Wrinkles:

Excessuve Fructose intake may accelerate the development of Wrinkles (due to Fructose stimulating the process of Cross-Linking).  [1]

Excessuve Glucose intake may accelerate the development of Wrinkles (due to Glucose stimulating the process of Cross-Linking).

Excessuve Sucrose intake may accelerate the development of Wrinkles (due to the Fructose and Glucose content of Sucrose stimulating the process of Cross-Linking).  [2]

Electromagnetic Radiation

Excessive exposure to Infrared Radiation may cause Wrinkles.  [3]

Excessive exposure to the Ultra-Violet Radiation component of Sunlight may cause the generation of large quantities of Free Radicals which lead to the formation of Wrinkles (Wrinkles caused by Sunlight exposure are generally known as photoaging) - Sunlight/UV-Radiation exposure are believed to be the primary cause of Wrinkles.  [4]

Exposure of the Skin to UV-A may cause damage to the (mitochondrial) Deoxyribonucleic Acid (mt DNA) content of the Skin, resulting in Wrinkles.  [5]

Exposure of the Skin to UV-B may cause Wrinkles (due to UV-B stimulating the activity of Elastase in the Skin).  [6]

Enzymes

Excessive arNOX activity may cause Wrinkles.  [7]

Inappropriate or excessive activity of Matrix Metalloproteinases in the Skin’s Fibroblasts may contribute to the development of Wrinkles:
