Description

Diacylglycerol is Glycerol with two esterified Acyl moieties.  It serves two diverse functions:  1) as an intermediate in the synthesis of Triglycerides, and 2) as a Second Messenger.

 In its role as a Second Messenger, Diacylglycerol activates Protein Kinase C.
