Sensory Nerves

Also known as:  Afferent Craniospinal Nerves;  Sensory Craniospinal Nerves

Sensory Nerves are a group of Neurons that transmit Nerve Impulses from Sensory Receptors located in outlying areas of the body to the Spinal Cord via Spinal Nerves.  The Cell Bodies (Soma) of Sensory Nerves are located in a specialized area of the Spinal Cord known as the Posterior Root Ganglion (Dorsal Root).

Nervous System

 Sensory Nerves carry incoming (afferent) Nerve Impulses associated with the various Senses from Sensory Receptors to the Central Nervous System.
