The Tongue is the muscular organ attached to the floor of the Mouth that is covered with a Mucous Membrane.

Glands at the back of the Tongue secrete Lingual Lipase which commences the digestion of dietary Fats in the Mouth.
Nervous System
The Tongue contains the Taste Buds that act as Receptors for the Sense of Taste.
