Description
Lactose Intolerance is a form of Food Intolerance. It occurs due to lack of production of the Enzyme Lactase which digests Lactose.
Prevalence
Lactose Intolerance afflicts 5% to 10% of the population of Western Europe, 12% of White Americans, and up to 90% of the population of the Southern Hemisphere.
These Substances may Alleviate Lactose Intolerance
Enzymes
Lactose Intolerance occurs as a result of insufficient production of Lactase in the Small Intestine. Supplemental Lactase may counteract Lactase insufficiency.
