NAD
Overview
NAD is one of the Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotides.
Biological Function of NAD
Aging Process
NAD helps to retard one of the primary mechanisms of the Aging Process via the following mechanism: [1]
1. NAD is a cofactor for the activity of Sirtuins, enzymes that upregulate the deacetylation (removal of Acetyl units) from Chromatin.
2. Chromatin (when deacetylated) provides a “protective cover” to Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA).
