Protein Synthesis Inhibitors inhibit/kill may types of Bacteria - Detrimental (and also Beneficial Bacteria as an unwanted side effect) by inhibiting Protein synthesis within Detrimental Bacteria. This is achieved by them acting on Ribosomes in the Detrimental Bacteria:
Bacteria possess 70S Ribosomes whereas humans and other mammals possess 80S Ribosomes. This permits Protein Synthesis Inhibitor Pharmaceutical Antibiotics to inhibit Protein Synthesis within Bacteria without having a major effect on human Ribosomes.
