Description
Fruits are a group of Plant Foods. The proper botanical definition of Fruit is "the ripened ovary of any flowering plant" - this definition properly includes almost all of the Plant Foods (including Cereals, Nuts, Seeds and Vegetables) but for the purposes of this program, the layman's definition (i.e. “Plant Foods consumed as snacks”) has been adopted.

High consumption of Fruit may help to prevent Ischemic Heart Disease. [1]
Regular (five to six servings per day) consumption of Fruit may help to prevent Stroke (most likely due to their high content of Folic Acid and Potassium). [2]
